The Australian Baroque Orchestra was founded by Helen Kruger an international violinist in her own right who is now based in Perth and offering a wide range of interactive concerts to the Perth Community.

Australian Baroque is a national ensemble and early music initiative, formed at its core by WA-based artists. They are world-class players with a spirit of investigation and historical inspiration, bringing you stunning classical music programs, live concerts, and immersive projects. Some of their series include Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Candlelight, Perth Summer Orchestra Camp, Margaret River Residency and thier flagship music education program the Perth String Project.

The ensemble formed in December 2018 was resident Ensemble in Residence at the WA Academy of Performing Arts, ECU, recorded by ABC Classics and were resident in a Recital Hall home at 505 Newcastle St, thanks to their partnership with AHG for 2020/21. In 2023 Australian Baroque was recorded by Tall Poppies and filmed by Master Performers.

Being part of the WA community is central to the aims of Australian Baroque. This is not just an orchestra for the concert hall.  Their aim is to build significant and long-lasting ties with both regional and metropolitan communities, performing in galleries, schools, museums, Men’s Sheds, churches, cafes and town halls.
